About

Jennifer Toof, LPC, NCC, is pursuing her PhD in International Psychology with a concentration in trauma services from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Jennifer has a B.S. in psychology from Northeastern University and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Her PhD program teaches students the skills necessary to lead organizations in developing prevention and preparedness training and establishing programs to address mental health issues due to traumatic experiences. It prepares graduates for work on a global scale with nonprofits, governments, embassies, and international help organizations.

During her doctoral education, Jennifer has consulted with Kuwait Counseling Center on domestic violence education/prevention and for Abba’s Pride in Ghana on resilience-building education for foster care parents.
Jennifer has prior clinical experience working with individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders and with children, adolescents, and families experiencing emotional and behavioral issues through Child Guidance Resource Centers. She is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, one of the most trusted and well-known psychotherapy approaches designed to treat post-traumatic stress and other trauma-related difficulties in children, teens, and their caregivers.

Jennifer also works as an Adjunct Professor teaching classes related to counseling and diversity at Rowan College of South Jersey. She is a prolific presenter, having given dozens of presentations at professional counseling and psychology conferences both nationally and internationally. She has also been published in professional journals on issues ranging from family therapy to childhood trauma and attachment. Jennifer was awarded the 2022 Humanistic Advocacy and Social Justice Award from the Association for Humanistic Counseling, the 2020 Professional Service Award from the Association for Creativity in Counseling, the 2019 Graduate Student Award from the Association for Creativity in Counseling, Honorable Mention in the 2019 American Counseling Association Tomorrow’s Counselor Awards, and Honorable Mention in the 2020 American Counseling Association Graduate Student Ethics Awards.
